The Shan ministry lost a dear Shan friend, co-worker and an evangelist this year.
His name was Pi Jing. Pi Jing did the 5th of February this year 2007. He became 33 years old and he left behind a wife and two children. The children are three and five years old. We will shortly try to tell you the story about how it all happened:

Before Christmas, Jing accidentally met someone in his family that he had not seen for over 10 years. This person had contact with his mother that he also hadn’t seen for over 10 years. This family member told him that his mother believed he was dead and they have had his funeral already. Jing was both sad and glad when he heard about his mother, and he really wanted to see here. She still lived in his home village deep inside Burma. During Christmas he tried, trough many difficulties, to travel to his home village. Finally he managed to get there. He was very happy to see his mother again, and he was talking to many people about God. One day he went to a place where people were dirking alcohol. A friend of him got in a quarrel with another person. They almost started to fight and Jing tried to stop them by going in between, but then one of them pushed Jing. Jing fell to the ground and hit his head and neck. They helped him up and brought him home. He was able to explain to his mother that it was not he that had been fighting. He went to bed, but during the night he got worse. In the morning they found him not able to speak, they got the doctor, but then it was already too late. He probably died of internal bleedings. Some of or staff was able to get there before the funeral, and they had a Christian one. All of his family was Buddhist, so that was a big answer to prayer. Almost the whole village came to the funeral and they all heard the gospel being preached.
